Ophthalmologist – Cataract, Refractive and Glaucoma Surgery
Dr Justin Sherwin is a highly trained and experienced ophthalmologist with a special interest in cataract, refractive and glaucoma surgery, as well as the management of medical retinal and general eye conditions. He brings a compassionate and evidence-based approach to caring for patients across the Mornington Peninsula and Bayside regions.
He holds public and private appointments across leading eye care centres:
- Peninsula Eye Centre, Mornington (Director)
- Bayside Eye Specialists, Brighton East
- Vista Eyes Laser Clinic, Elsternwick
- Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne (Visiting Medical Officer)
Dr Sherwin is also a Board Director of the Australian Society of Ophthalmologists and Cambridge Australia Scholarships, and plays an active role in education as a lecturer at the University of Ulster and the University of Melbourne.

Academic and Research Credentials:
Dr Sherwin trained in Australia and the UK, completing his PhD, MChir and MPhil at the University of Cambridge. He undertook a glaucoma and cataract surgical fellowship at Oxford Eye Hospital, UK.
He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and is a reviewer for major international ophthalmology journals. His research focuses on cataract, glaucoma, refractive error, and eye health in underserved communities.

Global and Community Work:
Dr Sherwin has undertaken humanitarian ophthalmology work in Kenya, Ghana and Malawi, and served with the Fred Hollows Foundation. He is committed to equity in eye health and improving outcomes in low-resource settings.
Dr Sherwin consults at Peninsula Eye Centre on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and performs surgery at Beleura Private Hospital.
